How Massage Therapy Works As A Business

Author: Amy Roberts

Massage Therapy is, as you know, a very rewarding profession to get into. So often we fall in love with Massage Therapy and then cross our fingers and wait for it to work.

Massage Therapy is an ideal way of expressing how you care about people, their muscular soreness and stiffness and hopefully help them recover emotionally as well. Its great, we can't fault it. And there are lots of Massage Therapy schools where we can go and learn expert techniques and keep this powerful knowledge for the rest of our lives.

But how does Massage Therapy Work as a business?

Well for starters, just doing massage therapy isn't enough to make it work as a business. Don' think that you can generate clients just because you are a massage therapist. That's mistake number 1.

The best thing to do to make massage therapy work as a successful and profitable business (I mean emotionally profitable as well as financially) is to see it as a "relationship" business.

Forget just seeing yourself as a "Massage therapist" you need to start thinking of yourself in the business is creating a long term business relationship with them. No longer should you see yourself as just giving them a "back massage". The way to make massage therapy work as a business is to start setting long term plans for being "their massage therapist" who they can trust and come to when they are in physical pain.

Its not enough now to warrant being any other way. This attitude is a must when you are massaging people. Why? Because clients want to feel special. They want to feel as if you really want to take their pain away and will do anything you can using massage to do it. In other words they want to feel important to you not just another client.

Massage therapy is the ideal way to make people feel loved and special because its such a personal touch-excuse the pun. So make sure you have the right set of feelings and attitudes towards your clients when you greet them and massage them. If a client feels special you are twice as likely to get more referrals, re-bookings and you will find your success as a massage therapist snow balls.

Combine this with expert marketing and you will never look back.

Being able to do massage therapy is a complete joy and a gift you can give to others. So use this skill wisely; massage with love, massage with conscious energy and make it work as a business. You'll find this giving attitude manifests in your life as more clients and more clients. Massage therapy is an ideal way to tap into a spiritual resource that other professions may not. So enjoy it and your practice will excel.

Best wishes,
