Jewelry Armoire Buyers Guide

Author: Jason I. Lewis

It is more than likely that you have accumulated many jewelry boxes through the years. These individual boxes are taking up space in drawers and on top of chests and dressers. Sorting through these boxes to find a certain necklace, bracelet, or pair of earrings to wear is taking far too much time. A jewelry armoire provides an attractive and practical solution for organizing your jewelry collection.

There are several things to consider before purchasing a jewelry armoire. Jewelry armoires and jewelry chests come in different shapes and sizes, but each one should have a number of divided felt-lined drawers for rings, earrings, and pins, hooks for necklaces and bracelets, easy-to-open doors, and top and side mirrors for easy viewing. In addition, many jewelry chests have separate compartments for lingerie or accessories that you may find useful.

Jewelry armoires are more than a place to keep your valuables, they are beautiful additions to bedroom furniture. The finish of a jewelry armoire should match your bedroom furniture in style and finish. Jewelry armoires come in a variety of antique and traditional finishes, such as cherry, oak, pine, maple, birch, and mahogany. Some jewelry chests are hand painted with floral designs or carved, some are simple in design and others are more ornate. Unfinished armoires are available as well. The selection of a jewelry armoire is ultimately a personal choice, but it should blend in nicely with the overall interior dcor of your home.

The size of the jewelry armoire is extremely important. You need to consider how much room you have and what type of space you have to put the chest. Will a round, semi-round, tall, or rectangular size armoire be more appropriate for the space your planning to use. You may be tempted to purchase a jewelry chest that will be adequate for your present jewelry collection, however, it might be advisable to buy a larger size in anticipation of future needs.

Since armoires usually range in price from several hundred to over a thousand dollars, depending upon workmanship and style, it is always wise to shop around and compare prices at several furniture retailers to find one that will fit your budget. However, it is important to examine the overall construction and quality of interior and exterior design, as well as price, before buying a jewelry armoire. Buying a jewelry chest is a wise investment, a valuable heirloom that will last for years.
