The Lowdown on British Airways Credit Card

Author: Eric Wasselman

When choosing a frequent flyer miles card, it is always best to select an airline flying to numerous destinations, domestically and internationally. This way, you will not be limited by the locations that you can visit, or if you are a big spender, not get frowned by for charging everything to your card. That is, if your card is the British Airways Visa Signature Credit Card.

Upon receiving your British Airways credit card your first charge to the card will earn you 15,000 worth of bonus points. British Airways purchases will subsequently award you 2 miles for every dollar spent, whereas it's a 1 mile to a dollar ratio for general purchases.

Apart from that, other than redeeming tickets from British Airways, you are also entitled to redeem your free airline tickets with American Airlines and Alaska Airlines. Better yet, each time you purchase a full fare First Club World ticket or a World Traveler plus ticket with your British Airways credit card, you will get a companion ticket for free.

Additionally, frequent flyers can also save $250 off on their Club World round-trip fare purchases to London. In fact, they are also entitled for $20 off for any ticket purchased from the British Airways website. Just for $75 a year, cardholders also benefit from perks such as travel accident insurance, concierge services, auto rental insurance as well as lost luggage insurance.

APRs for both purchases and balance transfers are set at 4.9% for the first five months but may escalate to higher levels once the promotional period is over. For instance, APRs for purchases can jump to as high as 16%. As for fees, the only difference it has from other cards is that there are no additional fees incurred for spending over your credit limit simply because there is no maximum spending limit for the card.
